  7. East Garfield Park 26 years: Taste like? Freedom, Sound like? Childhood, Feel like? Home, Look like? Hope. Angie lived at Washington and Sacramento across from the Boys and Girls Club, she had a candy stand. Hadn't remembered this in ten years, she recalled the old coolers she kept the ice in to make the snowballs, and candy. Her grandmother got a peddlers license for her, she made money for school clothes, her store was visited by all the kids from the club, and neighborhood.

Oak Park: Willa had a "Candy Store", she opened it up at 10am, went to the ice house first on 5th Ave/Pulaski at 9am, she purchased her candy at the "Vendors Row" south near Randolph and Dearborn at the Candy Factory, her mother let her pick out the candy to sell in her store. She has pictures to post if she can find them. The money was for her to buy back to school clothes.

  25. Englewood: Tastes like? Orange sherbert icecream, Looks like? One block there was a Jeweler, Lawyer, Insurance company, Postmaster, Jewish Synagogue. Sounds like? Laughter of children playing in the backyard. She remembers the garage roofs that they would climb up onto, and jump down on the leaves they we had raked into piles. Scaling the walls of the gateway our legs stretched out going up and up from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor. Hands clapping from Mama calling us inside.
