OH ART FOUNDATION 1ST ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

OH ART FOUNDATION presents
The 1st Annual Black History Month Festival of the Arts
Curated by: Renee Baker & Wisdom Baty (2nd floor)

This art exhibit explores the multifaceted healing nature of Black identity, shedding light on the complex intersections of strength, vulnerability, history, and future within the Black experience. The exhibit will showcase pieces that reframe traditional representations, inviting viewers to engage with themes of resilience, introspection, liberation, and the ever-shifting contours of identity.

Obscurity is the New Normal,  30" x 24 "x 2"

Much of our history is deliberately concealed, and with the climate of deconstructing civil rights laws in the United States, the state of being unknown, inconspicuous, or unimportant will become more common ground if we don't pick up a paper and read it, be proactive about our existence.
"We are too great of a people to slide into obscurity."

"Tribute to Black Farmers," Acrylic, collage on canvas,   24" x 30 "x 2"

"Farmers and ranchers work around the clock to put food on our tables and steward our Nation's land," "But for too long, many farmers and ranchers experienced discrimination in farm loan programs and have not had the same access to federal resources and support."

But the long-awaited payments come amid a backdrop of a group of Black farmers who have sued, saying the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program should be open to applicants filing on behalf of their deceased relatives who faced discrimination.
