Sojourner Truth African Museum is a community-based nonprofit Museum. Our Art People Chairs initiative was inspired by William H. Johnson of the Harlem Renaissance. This project aims to enhance our community's beauty while raising funds for our museum. Initially, we created the chairs in wood, but the material didn't last long. Therefore, we switched to metal and constructed the chairs on a larger scale. We now have 8-foot and 10-foot metal chairs. Our current project is inspired by various people from history and the present, and they are enhancing our community with their bold colors and beauty.

Our vision is to offer you the opportunity to experience a people chair. We want to design a people's chair that showcases you as a masterpiece. Purchasing a people's chair will support our goal of becoming a self-sustaining and self-supporting museum. Your purchase will enable us to continue our vital work, such as youth workforce development, entrepreneurship, docent programs, art engagement, community beautification, senior programs, and supporting local artists.
